Case Studies

We have worked with a lot of different companies across a variety of industries to help them boost creative thinking. Here are a couple of examples of some work we have done.

Medibank Private

Medibank Private

The brief:

Inventium was brought it to turn the Sales and Services senior leadership team into ‘creative dynamos’ who would help breed a culture of creative thinking and problem solving and help challenge existing thinking across a very conservative organisation.

What we did:

  • We presented a keynote at Medibank Private’s leadership off-site to open the team’s minds up to creativity and innovation - why it’s important, how it relates to the health insurance industry, innovations from around the world that have come from the industry, and how easy it is to start thinking creatively.
  • We then ran a one day intensive creative thinking tools training session where we taught the team a stack of tools that they could use to help generate better ideas both on their own and in groups, get the most out of group meetings and workshops, and tools that they could easily teach to their own teams.
  • We then had several one-on-one coaching sessions with each participant to help embed the learnings, help them overcome any challenges they were experiencing, and help creative problem solving become a habitual part of their working lives.

The result:

  • Turned a team that were skeptical of the power of innovation and creativity to Medibank Private into advocates who now actively drive creative thinking across the organisation and challenge existing assumptions
  • Created a new and common language for creativity, which is now used by all participants to help drive creative thought
  • Increased the effectiveness of team meetings, including management meetings and brainstorms.

“It was during the final session of an incredibly boring seminar that Amantha made her first impression on me. She blew me away. She was quirky, engaging, energetic, energising and incredibly insightful. Since then, I've involved Amantha in running my part of the business because she causes people to be more productive in their roles by helping them to be more creative. Amantha is one of those great educators who does not teach things, she helps people to discover things.

Through group workshops and one on one coaching Amantha has introduced a new language and a set of concepts into my team. These concepts act as triggers to remind us when we should be thinking more creatively and tools to help us make this happen. The evidence of Amantha's value, to my business, has been made clear to me through my teams' increased willingness to embrace and apply creative thinking as a critical discipline for running a large and complex business.

I have no hesitation in recommending Amantha to any business leader. “

kimberly-clark

Kimberly-Clark

The brief:

In 2008 Kimberly-Clark Australia needed to create a more innovative culture, to help us to find local as well as global product, service and process innovations for the Australian business. An obvious starting point was to help our employees feel confident about their ability to generate innovative ideas. Inventium was selected to train up the organisation.

What we did:

  • We ran creative thinking and innovation workshops and training with approximately 60% of Kimberly-Clark’s employees around Australia and New Zealand.
  • We provided an easy-to-use creative thinking and innovation toolkit to all participants.
  • Provided specific guidance to participants around how to apply the tools to real life challenges facing their department.

The result:

  • Achieved universally positive feedback from the hundreds of participants (a rare event, according to Kimberly-Clark).
  • The tools have been used to tackle all sorts of business issues across a range of departments (including Marketing, Sales, Finance, IT and Supply Chain).

“We’ve enjoyed the high energy presentation style, the fact that the techniques are science-based with rationale about why they work, and most of all we’ve enjoyed the fact that the tools and techniques are simple and easy to remember and implement. Previous creativity training has been fun but complicated, and therefore not very useful. Inventium’s training is fun, simple, energising and useful. It can be used to tackle all sorts of business issues, and it produces ideas with more substance and buy-in than many other techniques."

Deloitte NZ

Deloitte NZ

The brief:

Deloitte NZ were launching an Innovation Program to identify new opportunities for the firm. Deloitte recognised that, in order to be successful, they would need to equip their leaders with creative thinking and idea generation skills. Further to work performed at Deloitte Australia, Inventium was brought in to build this capability and help Deloitte maintain a curriculum. Inventium’s objective was to equip Deloitte’s people with skills that they could consider, frame and explore new ideas more easily.

What we did:

  • We designed and ran idea generation training programs at each of Deloitte’s five offices across NZ which were attended by the majority of Partners, Directors and Senior Manager of the firm.
  • We conducted a train the trainer program with the core innovation team to enable them to run future training programs with more junior staff and new recruits to the organisation.

The result:

  • Provided a common language and practical techniques for creative thinking and idea generation.
  • Contributed to the generation of new ideas during the workshops.
  • Engaged the firm’s management teams with a new way of thinking that could be applied to both clients and the firm.

“Inventium were engaged to help our managers build creative thinking skills. Amantha and her team were clearly knowledgeable in their field and accommodated our needs in the training programme that they delivered. Amantha’s friendly and informed perspective was very effective at influencing our people and prompting them to question long held assumptions. “

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
