In the last few years, many of us at Inventium have spent countless hours trying to find great workshop venues in Melbourne. So much time has been wasted on Google, trawling through dull venue after dull venue with the hope of finding a hidden gem, somewhere in the heart of Melbourne. And it always ended in a futile discussion with whoever is in the office asking, “Why are there no amazing workshop venues in Melbourne?” And everyone else would shrug their shoulders and we would inevitably end up using a place that none of us were particularly happy with.
Well, last year we became so frustrated that we thought “Stuff it – let’s create our own!” Kind of an extreme response, but hey, that’s how frustrated we were. And two weeks ago, we finally launched the result of all our hard work: The Odd One Out.
What is it?
The Odd One Out is Melbourne’s newest corporate workshop venue with one massive difference…
The Odd One Out is Australia’s first workshop venue that has been scientifically proven to increase creative thought. It was custom designed by the Innovation Psychologists at Inventium in conjunction with the design gurus at Siren Design and the amazing artist Tunni. Which means as well as being a truly awesome space, creative problem solving skills will be significantly boosted just by entering the space.
How many people can it fit?
The space is flexible and can fit up to 24 people in U-shape or cabaret style seating, or up to 50 people in theatre style. It’s a great size for training sessions, off-sites, and workshops.
Why is it called the Odd One Out?
In case you were wondering why we called the venue the Odd One Out, it is based on a piece of research where scientists found that when people looked at an image where there was an odd one out theme, participants generated ideas that were judged as being 25% more creative than those looking at images depicting “conformity”. You’ll see lots of places in the room where we have incorporated this finding – amongst other scientific findings!
