Psychology Week is an annual awareness event organised by the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Australians benefit from psychological knowledge every day, in almost every setting – from classrooms, sports-fields or courtrooms, to private clinics and large hospitals.

Every year, Psychology Week shows Australians how psychology can help them to lead healthier, happier and more meaningful lives. In its 19th year, Psychology Week is exploring the role psychology plays in the workplace. It will take place between 29 November and 5 December 2021.

Organisations can get involved by hosting an event in the workplace or in the community. This year, Inventium will be offering to host a webinar.

Let’s face it: there is a lot of bad advice going around in the world of work. People try to apply common sense, outdated or poorly run research, or stuff they heard from their mate’s sister’s uncle. When people apply these ideas, they’re often left scratching their heads as to why they didn’t get the result they were expecting.

If only it were as easy as doing what makes intuitive sense or taking our mate’s sister’s uncle’s word for it. But that’s not how human behaviour works – it’s often irrational and counterintuitive. Which is where psychology can help.

At Inventium, we are mad-crazy-science-loving nerds. We read academic journal articles for fun and get excited when we hear phrases like multivariate regression and statistically significant. So when we heard that 29 November – 5 December was Psychology Awareness Week, we wanted to get on board to help spread some psychology love.

To celebrate, we are putting on an event to share out top 10 counterintuitive research findings from psychology that will help you work better. These findings will help you think more creatively, work more productively, and get more satisfaction from whatever work you do.

Join us on Tuesday, 30 November from 8am-9am AEDT when four of the psychologists from the team at Inventium will be geeking out over science.

If you have ever wondered ‘why is psychology so awesome?’ and more importantly, ‘how can psychology help me be better at my job?’, then make it a priority to get your brain along to this event.

Tickets are $30 and all profits will go to Movember
